This is a pre Ai and a very Sexy looking lens!

I took this for a test spin today, however, i left the Df in 1600, such a rookie move and so I want to shoot the lens again right for the images. I will say its prone to flaring and pentagons if you fail to shade the lens. I will reserve judgement on the quality until I shoot it with better settings.

I like the 20mm f3,5 Nikkor-UD Auto a lot. It's sharp wide open, but really sings at f8.

Flare can be a bit of an issue, but the lens is so sensitive to light falling on the front element that I doubt a shallow lens hood as can be used on a lens with this angle of view will make a big difference there.

You don't need to cut or replace the aperture ring on this lens. It's so narrow that you can mount it on any Nikon SLR without fear of damaging the Ai indexing lever. My copy came with a little metal tab glued on the aperture ring to interact with the Ai indexing lever on the camera. Works perfectly fine that way

Those are some fine samples of the lens Buddy! Thanks for sharing! I got mine out this morning for a final flurry of Scallop shots before I switch back to the Ai-s side on the D750 to make sure I am comfortable for a wedding I am shooting in October.

Here is one from the 20 this morning!

I've had this lens for about 25 years now, gets a lot of use on the Df.
